Statement from the organisers of THE LAP Ultra Marathon

With deep sadness, we confirm the death of a man in THE LAP 2025 Ultra Marathon.

A 27-year-old man from South East England collapsed between mile 42 and 43, although he received immediate medical treatment and an ambulance was in attendance within 6 minutes, he died later at the scene.

Everyone involved in the organisation of THE LAP Ultra Marathon would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends.

With respect to the privacy of the family, no further details will be released.

The cause of death will be established later through medical examination.

THE LAP was created to provide a gateway for runners and walkers to comfortably and safely step up to ULTRA distance, without the worry of navigation, food or exposure to really bad weather.

 

With 5 fully stocked feed stations and a low level Lake District route that means you are already on the bad weather option. The beautiful 75K/47 mile, fully signposted trail ultra marathon,  follows some of the most stunning, runnable, and best signposted trails in The Lake District.
